Station Y - Horseshoe was established in the 1950's on Horseshoe Island.
Studies activities were survey, geology and meteorology.
Closed in 1960 when personnel transferred to Stonington Island (Station
E) then reopened briefly in 1969 to complete local survey work.
The site cleaned up by BAS
March 1995. Designated as Historic Site No. 63 under the Antarctic Treaty.
